In a thrilling match in the 2023 U-23 AFCON, Ghana’s Black Meteors defeated a tenacious Congo team, winning 3-2, with Ernest Nuamah of FC Nordsjaelland in Denmark and Emmanuel Yeboah of CFR Cluj in Romania playing starring roles; the latter, Yeboah, coming off the bench to score twice and assist the other for Ernest Nuamah.

As the game began, both sides were eager to assert their dominance on the field.

Congo, who were making their debut, surprised many by displaying remarkable elegance and offensive talent, creating a number of decent opportunities.

However, their efforts were in vain since they were unable to convert their chances into goals, allowing Ghana to breathe a sigh of relief.

The Black Meteors put forth a lackluster performance in the first quarter; they struggled to find their rhythm and were fortunate to go into the half with the score at 0-0.

Ernest Nuamah, who showed brilliance with his runs and crosses into the box, was the Metoers’ sole bright light in a dreary first half.

Afriyie Barnieh, Ghana’s captain and skipper, had almost little chance of scoring.
